HEAVY ATTACK
BOMBERS AT MUNSTER j FIGHTERS ALSO IN FRAY COASTAL COMMAND BOMB SUPPLY’ SHIP tßec. 10.0 a.m.) Rugby, Jan. 23.1 An Air Ministry communique states: "Last night aircraft of the Bomber Command made a concentrated attack on objectives at Munster where large fires were left burning. Enemy aerodromes in Holland and doeks at Dunkirk were also bombed and mines were laid in enemy waters. “Aircraft of the Fighter Command attacked enemy aerodromes in northern France. Hudsons of the Coastal Command on patrol off the Frisian Islands bombed and hit an enemy supply vessel. From these operations two aircraft of the Bomber Command are missing and one of the Coastal Command is missing.” INTENSE COLD EXPERIENCED R.A.F. bombers had to face exceptionally low temperatures in Wednesday night’s attacks on Germany and enemy-occupied Holland and France. The main targets were Emden and Bremen. where fires were started among the docks. The internal heating system of one Hampden failed immediately after the take-off. and for six hours the crew had to suffer incredible cold, but they refused to turn back. Many aerodromes were attacked in Holland. The docks at Boulogne were also attacked. Six of our aircraft failed to return. ENEMY PLANE DOWN IN ENGLAND On Wednesday night an enemy aircraft was destroyed off the east coast of England, it was announced by the Air Ministry.—B.O.W.
