INQUEST AT AUCKLAND

THREE AIRMEN KILLED IN DECEMBER RESULT OF CRASH Auckland, This Day. “The Air Force has held a departmental inquiry and 1 am concerned c.nly with the cause of death, though like many others of the public I am concerned about the number of accidents in air training,” said the coroner, Mr Hunt, S.M.. conducting an inquest into the death of the three airmen killed in the crash of a bomber aeroplane at Woodville near llelensville on 21st December. The airmen were: Fly in;; Officer Eric Francis Tioldaway, Turua; Sergt. Pilot Eric Eldershaw (21 >, Auckland; Sergt. Pilot George Bevan Eathorne (27), Christchurch. Evidence showed that the machine was examined prior to the flight and found airworthy. The pilot had had 12 years’ experience and the other men were also experienced and they were not on a training flight. The coroner found formally that th cause of death was the crashing of a plane on an exercise flight.—P.A.
