GENERAL KEITEL’S VISIT GERMANY’S INTEREST (Rec 12 noon) London, Jan. 20. It is officially announced in Budapest that General Keitel has arrived and is staying for several days, thus returning the visit paid to Berlin by the Hungarian War Minister, M. Bartha, a year ago. “The Times" diplomatic correspondent says that following the visits

of Herr von Ribbentrop. German Foreign Minister, and Count Ciano, Italian Foreign Minister, General Keitel’s visit shows that the Hungarian attitude is a matter ot particular concern to the Axis. There is also rivalry between Italy and Germany for ascendancy in Budapest General Keitel may hope to win absolute German control of the Hungarian army and also reverse Hungary s refusal to Herr von Ribbentrop s suggestion that more Hungarian divisions should be sent to the Russian front Germany may offer Hungary more Yugoslav territory as a bribe. —U.P.A.
