THEY SPRING FROM JELLY-FISH
The East End of London schoolgirl who, set an essay on “Man,” wrote “Men are what women marry. They smoke and drink and swear. All men and women sprang from monkeys, but women sprang farther,” might feel that men are catching up if she saw a cartoon in a recent number of “The Rock”—a magazine run by the troops in Gibraltar. The drawing in question illustrated the pleasure of bathing at Gibraltar. Apparently the troops there are very popular with the underworld, but the jellyfish are altogether too demonstrative. And the leaps of the bathers suggest that they would much, much rather be alone.
