ORDERLY AFFAIR
BRITISH WITHDRAWAL SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT REMOVED STRONG NEW POSITIONS (Rec. 2 p.m * London, Dec. 3. The British withdrawal on the night of Ist December was an orderly affair, | reports the British LTnited Press corj respondent with the Eighth Army. All supplies and equipment were removed. The new British dispositions will af- ! lord strong positions for defence or ofi fence. For the past week a number of ; scattered British units offered an excellent target for German armoured units;, which pivoted and wheeled and inflicted damage before turning off and striking at another position. British ; sappers in the last two days have been constantly blowing up damaged enemy i tanks, armoured vehicles and motor ! transports in the area between Sidi Rezegh and El Gobi to prevent the enemy from recovering them. It is still too early to forecast the possible effects of the change in British . dispositions.—U.P.A.
