CULTURAL CONTACTS

NEW ZEALAND AND EAST INDIES Batavia, Nov.. 19. Mr A. G. Harper, of the New Zealand Internal Affairs Department, who is travelling home from the Middle East, is at present conducting talks with the Education Department of Batavia, with the object of a mutual interchange of Netherlands East Indies and New Zealand students, and also the establishment of chairs in j the Netherlands language and English i in the universities of both countries. j The feasibility of the plans is not yet certain, because the talks are only in the preliminary stage, but the Netherlands East Indies authorities are naturally interested in all possibilities; of bringing about closer co-operation between the Netherlands East Indies and New Zealand. —U.P.A.
