Sweet Home,” and can hum the tune more or less accurately, how many know the name of the author, John Howard Payne, who was born a hundred and fifty years ago? [Still fewer could nararH guess at which play the lyric was vritter for— Clari, the Maid of Milan. produced in 1823. Payne was an American dramatist and actor, born in New York. He wrote more than one sue-' co sful drama, though no«e of them is |remembered to-day.
