1t.A.1 . MIDDLE EAST BOMBERS DAMAGE AT BENGHAZI (Rec. 12.40 p.m.) Rugby, Oct. 28. An R.A.F. Middle East communique states: "R.A.F. heavy bombers on the night of 26th-27th October effectively raided Benghazi harbour, bombs bursting on the Cathedral Mole and objectives in the town. Yesterday the harbour was again attacked by the S A.A.F. Bombs fell near railway sidings at Governorate, while others straddled workshops and railway installations Fires broke out in the workshops. Military buildings were also hit. “Anti-aircraft and coastal defence guns at Bardia were attacked by naval aircraft on the night of 25th-26th October, while during the following night aircraft bombed n store and dumps near the Gambit landing ground. These dumps were again raided by medium ■ • ■ day. Motor t i ansport on the coastal road in the 1: machine-gun-ned on 26th October, and many vehicles were hit. “Southern Italy was raided yesterday when R.A.F. medium bombers attacked a goods train near Cotrone and blew it up A railway station and railway bridge in the vicinity sustained direct 1 its.
