ADVICE TO UNIONS
This country is arming to defend itself against a possible attack by Germany, where no man is allowed to join a labour union, and Japan, where labour conditions are worse than in any other civilised country. The union that cannot keep on working to help a defence against that oppression. and arbitrate its differences as it promised, can hardly command the respect of anyone who believes in the dignity and liberty of m»n under democracy.— (“Indianapolis News”)
