ARRESTED BRITONS IN JAPAN

REPEATED PROTESTS UNHEEDED QUESTION IN HOUSE OF COMMONS (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) Rugby, Oct. 22. Asked in the House of Commons about Mr Mason and Mr Martyr, two British subjects who were arrested by the Japanese at Tokio on 16th September, Mr Eden (Foreign Secretary) said the British Ambassador, Sir Robert Craigie, made strong and repeated protests against the refusal of the Japanese authorities to disclose the nature of the charges against these men or to allow the British Consul to visit them. Mr Eden added that he had instructed the Ambassador to take up the matter with the new Japanese Government and protest energetically for their release.—U.P.A.
