"FRESH FIELDS"

NELSON REPERTORY CLl'B’S PRODUCTION The- box plan for the Nelson Repertory Club's production. “Fresh Fields,” is open at 'Snapshots,” and is rapidly filling. The play will be presented at the Theatre Royal for three nights, commencing Tuesday, 28lh October, and early booking is advised.' This amusing play is written by Ivor Novello, and depicts the adventures of three Australians in London, and their efforts to enter society. Mrs Pigeon (Miss Walter), her daughter Una (Miss Wearing) and her brother, Tom Larcomb (Mr Easther). having sold their large hotel in Brisbane, come to London to spend the proceeds in “doing the season.” They call on Ladv Mary Crabbe (Mrs E. R. Neale), whose late husband they met in Australia, and are invited to stay with her as paying guests. Lady Mary sees in them a heaven-sent opportunity of tiding her family over a temporary financial embarrassment. but her son Tim (Mr McKechnie) and her sister, Lady Lilian (Mrs A. Campbell' prove singularly unenthusiastic over the visitors. Eventually the Marchioness of Strawholme (Miss Greenwood) takes the Pigeon family under her wing and arranges their successful entry into the social world. In the background socially, but very much to the fore domestically, move Lady Mary's secretary, the invaluable Miss Swaine (Miss McGreevy) and the family butler, Ludlow (Mr SirnmF These two manage the household, stave oil - angry creditors and remain calm and unperturbed throughout the domestic upheavals which are the outcome of Lady Mary's brilliant money-making idea. With so many hilarious situations and bright dialogue, this is undoubtedly one ot the best comedies yet produced by the Repertory Club and promises to be one of its biggest successes.
