At Caulfield on the course proper the New Zealand juveniles Silver Mas! and Pioneer, owned by Mr F. Christie finished together making a track recorc for four furlongs of 47$ seconds. It wa: an excellent trial. Beau Vite ran a brilliant mile ir 1.40], which is a fraction outside the track record. The first five took 1.1 and the last furlong 12$ seconds. Rimveil beat Remarc over a mile ir 1.44$ and Historian did an impressive mile in* 1.43. High Caste did steady work. Hi: trainer is disappointed over yesterday': effort. J. ’T. Jamieson intends to advise th< owner, Mr H. E. Tancred, to scratcl High Caste, who probably will be re served for the Cantala Stakes.
