OBITUARY

MR F. G. MATTH2WS Wellington, This Day. The death occurred in Wellington yesterday of Mr Frederick Gwillim Matthews, M.8.E.. a son of Mr F. J. Matthews, an early settler of this country. Mr F. G. Matthews, who served in the Great War. was born in Havelock, and was educated at Nelson College. In 1897 he joined the Customs Department and wos appointed Collector of Customs and Taxes at Samoa in 1928. Mr Matthews has acted as private secretary to many Ministers of the Crown. — P A .
