There was a heavy entry of 540 head of fat cattle, with numerous prime I hnes. Heavier plain steers were a shade easier, as also were cows, but there was no change for prime medium weights. Good steers made from £l6 10s to £2O, tops to £25; prime medium weights, down to £l4 10s, and ordinary to £ll 10s. Good heifers ranged from £lO 10s to £l4, tops to £ls 17s 6d. o? dinary down to £B. good cows £lO to £l3, tops to £ls. inferior down to £7. Good beef made from 42s to 44s 6d a 1001 b, tops to 465; heavy and medium quality, 38s to 41s 6d, ordinary down to 335, and rough down to 265. Porkers were forward in heavy num- 1 bers, and for other than the best values eased by 4s to 5s a head. Baconers showed little change from a week ago. j Porkers made from £2 7s 6d to £3 3s 6d. average per lb. 7:,'d to 9.1 d; baeoners, £3 8s 6d to £4 14s 6d, average per j lb G£d to Bd. Fat sheep were a smaller entry of I 4500 head, mostly shorn, of poorer av- | crage quality and containing a big proportion of dry ewes. They met a most erratic sale, with a weakening of 2s a head for all except toe best. Woolly wethers sold for best quality at from 30s to 42s 6d; prime medium weight wethers, 26s to 295; good woolly ewes, 25s to 295; best ewes, to 325; medium weight prime ewes, 21s to 245, best shorn wethers, 24s to 30s; medium wethers, 20s t) 23s 6d; light, down to 17s; prime heavy shorn ewes, 19s 6d to 265; medium, 17s to 19s; inferior, down lo 14s— P.A.
