: FIRST ONE READY IN NOVEMBER j (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. “The establishment oi defaulters’ dej tenlion camps is being actively underr taken, and the first of these will be i ready for occupation early in Novom- ‘ ber,” stated the Minister of National Service (Mr Semple) in the House of Representatives last night in reply to an urgent question from Mr W. J. Broadfoot (National, Waitomo). The Minister said that the inmates would be engaged in breaking in land for settlement, road making, tree planting, drainage, farming, and in other work in connection with the mainten- j ance of the camp. Mr Broadfoot in his question also wanted to know whether defaulters and : conscientious objectors would be divest- 1 ed of their civil right for at least 15 years.
