LIVING IN GARAGE
FAMILY OF SIX AT TAHI NAM I DIFFICULTY OF’ OBTAINING HOUSE A family of six which is at present living in a garage at Tahunanui, is having its efTorts to obtain a State house supported by the Health Department. This was disclosed at a meeting of the Talnmanui Town Board when the district inspector of health. Mr H. Coll man. forwarded copies of letters sent to the man concerned and the State Advances Corporation. In the Idler to the occupier of the garage the inspector said that the motor shed converted into a habitation did not comply with the provisions of the Health Act. He had interviewed the branch manager of the State Advances Corporation with a view to obtaining the earliest consideration for the resident's application for a State house. In the meantime the inspector requested that the land be vacated and the family accommodated in more suitable quarters. In his letter to the State Advances Corporation the inspector said he understood the man concerned had been unable to rent a suitable home either in Nelson, Richmond or Tahunanui.
