MEETING THIS MORNING EXTENSIONS TO HOSPITAL I | At a meeting of the Nelson Chamber i j of Commerce this morning there were i I present Messrs G. R. McKeller (vice-! [ j president, in the chair), F. G. Gibbs, W. -1 A. Armstrong, A. G. Betts Jnr., L. W. i Field and Withers. I When hospital board levies were un- ; der discussion the secretary, Mr E. R. ; , i Neale, pointed out that the Nelson j I board was proposing to raise a loan of j (£45,000 which would not even touch] , I the question of providing additional 1 1 ward accommodation. Additional ac-! commodation would have to be provid- j fed shortly and the total likely to be! 1 spent on new buildings was about: . j £150,000. This would mean an increase j lin City Council levies and a further! | drain on the pockets of ratepayers. On the motion of Mr Gibbs it was j •decided to support the criticism of the j War Risks Insurance Bill made by the ( Associated Chambers of Commerce in j a letter to the chamber, i The question of arranging for a dele- j ! gate to the annual conference of the i (Associated Chambers of Commerce! .j was left in the hands of the president, j j vice-president and secretary.
