300 BOMBERS USED
R A F. RAID ON GERMANY nuremburgYhief OBJECTIVE OTHKR TAROKTS IN THE WEST ELEVEN PLANES MISSING (Rec. 11.30 a.m.) Rugby, Oct. 13. After nearly a year British bombers visited Nurcmburg. In the raid over Germany last night the Bomber Command sent out 300 aircraft. Nuremburg which is a Nazi stronghold and also lias ! important war industries was 1 one of the chief objectives. The Air Ministry describing this raid said that there was good weather and many fires were started which spread over a wide : area. A number of targets in western and north-western Germany were also attacked. The weather was not so favourable as in the south. Strong forces bombed objectives at Bremen. Docks at Boulogne were also bombed. Aircraft of the Coastal Command bombed enemy aerodromes in Holland and other Coastal aircraft attacked ship- ! ping off the Dutch coast. A supply ship was hit amidships, causing an explosion and off Norway another vessel was hit. Aircraft of the Fighter Com- : mand on offensive patrols at- ' tacked aerodromes in northern i France. From all these opera- | tions eleven aircraft of the 1 Bomber Command are missing. BLACKOUT POOR PROTECTION AGAINST NIGHT BOMBING POWERFUL LIGHTS ADVOCATE:II London, Oct. 12.
