WHEAT AND COTTON STOCKS
LEGISLATION VETOED BY MR ROOSEVELT (Rec. 1.55 p.m.) Washington, Aug 25. President Roosevelt vetoed legislation designed to freeze Government stocks o * wheat and cotton, declaring it as contrary to sound governmental policy and against the best interests m the long run both of the farmers and the consumers. It would seriously and adversely affect the agricultural adjustment programme which had been so beneficial to farmers in recent years. —U.P.A.
