MOTUEKA PLUNKET BALL SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The Motueka branch of the Plunket Societ added £3O to its funds as the .result of a very successful ball organ 1 iscd h.v an energetic committee and held in the Institute Hall. Streamers nf blue and gold (Plunket colours) with ! strings of lycapodia spared at regular intervals formed a high archway from ! the entrance to the stage, while cluster.I of greenery and fern were artistically j arranged on the walls. On the stage j j were vases of birch; and a large V surrounded by lycapodia made an at- j tractive background. Suspended from I the centre of the hall was a large stork : in flight and occupying prominent positions at both sides of the stage were 1 other storks carying babies in their , beaks. Completing the decoration j scheme was the word “Plunket” in gold j lettering, over the front of the stage. , ; Allred’s Victory Orchestra provided I excellent music for the modern and old : time dances and Mr A. L. Vickerman | officiated as M.C. Extras were play- , I ed by Messrs G. Clinch and A. Stuart. : Ea*Ty in the programme paper hats j were distributed to the dancers creat--1 ing a carnival atmosphere and adding i Ito the enjoyment of the evening. Mr I Sladen was the winner of the “Lucky ’ 1 hat and prizes for the Lucky Spot waltz ! also went to him and his partner. A .
