FIXTURE MADE

HEARING OF FREEZING WORKERS’ DISPUTE Auckland, This Day. Eightv-two members of the Auckland Freezing Workers’ Union have issued claims for varying sums aggregating £ 1500 against R. and W. Hellaby Lid., alleging that the amounts claimed represent the dilference between the amounts paid by the firm during the past twelve months and that which should have been paid under the Freezing Workers’ Award. A fixture for the hearing of the claims has been made for 16th September. The dispute which led to a stop-work meeting at Hellaby’s Works, Westfield, on sth August arose out of the unusual position that there are two separate unions at the works, namely Hellaby’s Meat Workers’ Union and the Freezing Workers’ Union.— P.A.
