REMARKABLE NEW .METHOD Ol TREATMENT London, Aug.. 1. The "Daily Telegraph” says the Government’s maxillofacial centres are using and developing a remarkable new method of treating jaw fractures, enabling the patient to move the part freely and painlessly within twentyfour hours of the fracture being set. The method involves the use of steel pins implanted in the jaw on each side of the fracture. The two ends of the : fracture are brought into position and held by an ingenious arrangement of stainless steel bars and movable nuts The process inflicts no pain and obviates weeks of immobility. The treatment was evolved by the famous plastic surgeon. Sir Harold ’Gillies, in conjunction with an America;. orthopaedic surgeon. Leading dentists express the opinion that it : may prove the most notable dental development of the war. —U P.A.
