Notes for Women
RICHMOND W.D.F.U. The eighth annual ball of the Richmond branch of the W.D.F.U. was held at the Town Hall, Richmond. The popularity of these functions was again demonstrated when a large crowd of dancers from all parts of the district assembled. The stage had been beautifully decorated by Mesdames Troop and Deere. This, combined with the colourful frocks worn by the ladies, was a charming sight to the onlookers. The music was supplied by Mr Harold Williams’s orchestra. Mr Claude Wells carried out the duties of M.C. in his usual capable manner. Mesdames Cromie and Wells as joint secretaries were helped by i the following energetic committee; Mesdames H. McDonald, Mason, S. Croucher, H. and G. Wilkes, B. Cross, 1 D. James, Scoltock, and Misses Robj son and Hammond. Special thanks i were tendered to the following for their contribution to the success of the evening: Messrs S. Croucher. J. Troup. R. Alexander, O. Woods. During an interval Mrs W. L. Palmer, a vice-president, apologised for the absence of the president, Mrs Hockey, j who was unfortunately indisposed She thanked the public for their supi port in attending in such large numbers on such a cold night and also 1 thanked the committee and all those j who had helped in any way to make : the ball such a success both socially and financially. Special thanks were rendered to Mr and Mrs Claude Wells I for their untiring efforts in largely | contributing to the success of the function. Dancing was continued until the early hours of the morning.
