FIRE AT BRIDGE STREET SHOP

GOOD SAVE BY FIRE BRIGADE The Nelson Fire Brigade received a call at 12.27 o’clock this morning to the Thistle Lounge, a shop in the Central Hotel building in Bridge street where a fire had broken out in the rear part of the shop where the kitchenette is situated. The fire had a fair hold but the brigade made u quick save running out a hose from Bridge street down the 'side lane. Little damage was done to the interior of the building. Smoke invaded the bedrooms of the Central Hotel immediately above the Thistle Lounge and the occupants bad to evacuate their rooms. RUBBISH FIRE THIS MORNING Another call was received at 11.45 o’clock this morning to 20 Kawai street, to a rubbish fire, which had practically been extinguished when the brigade arrived. |
