INCREASE IN’ BRITAIN [British Official Wireless] Rugby, Mav 20. The official cost of living index figure is 100 points above the level in July, 1914. compared with 98 points on Ist April. For iood alone the index figure is 71 points above the level of July. 1914. compared with 70 points on Ist April. The* rise is due to an increase in the prices of clothing and clothing materials, partly as the result of the effects of the purchase tax.
