GRAPHIC GERMAN VERSION EXCELLENT BRITISH PILOT London, May 9. Germany last night admitted the appearance of a new menace to its air raiders—the British night fighter. An ! eye-witness, giving a graphic broadcast; over the Berlin radio, said: “On lhe| way to our targets the rear-gunner sud- j denly shouts: ‘Nightflghter.’ All the' other gunners at once take up (heir 1 positions. “The Englishman races on to us. He 1 is one of the new, very fast night fighters He gives us the first burst and disappears before our gunners can reply. He is an excellent pilot. Then he again comes at us with another burst. Bullets tear holes in our fuselage. “Then there is a third attack. Everything seems to be blown to nieces in our cabin We turn seaward. The Englishman turns, too; it is impossible to shake j him off. “Wc- go down until we are just above the water. We want him to attack us from above Even this move does not make him change his mind. He is still j after us. He is on our tail He comes at | m* a^ain—for the sixth time. “Bullets smash the rear gunner’s f urret. but miss the gunner, who shoots ] hack. The fighter turns. Smoke is be- ! "inning to pour from the tail. What a! relief. We return to our base. Onlv one motor is working, and there are 107 holes in our fuselage.”
