SOLDIER M.P.’S

COMING ELECTION ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN PARTT LEADERS [United Press Association] Wellington, This Day. An understanding has been entered into by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, to do everything in their power to get their supporters to vote solidly at the next general election for members of Parliament on active service who seek re-election. This is to be done regardless of the party to which the absent soldier member belong.

The arrangement has been made to deal with the situation that would arise in the event of a person claiming to be an Independent candidate or the candidate of some party other than the Labour Party or the National Party contesting seats held by members serving with the armed forces.
