SUCCESSFUL GARDEN PARTY TAKAKA ANGLICAN LADIES’ GUILD The Takaka Anglican Ladies’ Guild held its annual garden party in gloriously fine weather on Tuesday afternoon, the function proving an outstanding success both socially and financially. The spacious grounds at the home of Mrs Charles Page made an ideal setting for the party, which was attended by a large crowd representative of all parts of the district Church funds will benefit to the extent of over £32 as a result Numerous interesting competitions were run during the afternoon and resulted as follows: Pegging the claim, Mrs J. Cashman 1, Mrs C. Page 2, Mrs N. Barnett 3. Clock golf, Mrs Val Page. Mystery parcel, Mrs V. Coombes. Nail driving, Mrs W. Herrick. Dressed goose, Mr Gerald Page. Iced cake, Mrs C. Page. Cushion. Mrs E. J. Windle. A brisk trade was carried on by the various stalls, which were in charge of the following ladies: Produce, Mes dames E. C. Baigent and D. Mason, cakes, Mesdames V. Page and E. A. Aylward; sweets, Mrs A. W. Watts; fancy goods, Mesdames W. Bell and H. Bean. Afternoon tea was served by Guild members.
