DEATH FROM SICKNESS

NEW ZEALAND SOLDIER IN EGYPy Mrs J. H. Small, Takaka, has received advice that her brother, Sergeant Charles John Herbert, has died of sickness in Egypt. Sergeant Herbert left New Zealand with the Railway Construction Company, was an ex-service-man, having seen service in the last war, leaving New Zealand with the Main Body in 1914. He returned to New Zealand after the armistice Sergeant Herbert married in England Sister Margaret MacKenzie, from Walton-on-Thames Hospital, she having predeceased him three years ago. He was the eldest son of the late Alexander T. Herbert and Mrs Mary Herbert, Heriot. Otago. Sergeant Herbert leaves a son and daughter aged 18 and 14 years respectively.
