NATIONAL SAVINGS MOVEMENT

PROGRESS BEING MAINTAINED Since the last report was made at the end of January, savings “groups” have been opened by the employees of the following mentioned firms: —Dalgety and Coy., Ltd.: Smith and Smith, Ltd.: F. and D. Edwards; Thomson’s Central Depot; W. S. Howson, Butchers; Bourne and Scarlett; Roy Chapman; Staff. Waimea Dairy Factory; Keith Walker; W. Richards; Vercoa Gilbert and Dee: Shell Coy., Ltd.; Rich, ardson and Has well; Goodrich Service Station: G. Page and Sons; Optimists Unlimited: Alan Greenslade; Marina Home Cookery; C. Jones, Draper. In the city there are now 88 groups working with just over 1.000 contributors, while in the country area there are 43 groups with just over 400 deposited. The number of accounts opened (individual as well as group) is growing steadily—there are over 1,800 in the city and over 1,000 in the country area. It is hoped shortly that the total for town and country will exceed 3,000.
