CZECH SCHOOL IN BRITAIN
(From a Special Correspondent) LONDON, 2nd November. The Czecho-Slovak Government has set up the first Czecho-Slovak elementary school in England. A suitable building has been found near London, and here some sixty children of Czech origin will receive an Anglo-Czecho-Slovak education. The aim of the school will be to use all the advantages of the English educational system and to combine this with Czech influence. Thus the children will not forget their mother tongue, and will learn the history and study the literature of their country. Ten Czech and Slovak teachers have been engaged, and two English teachers will give instruction in English grammar, literature, and history. To ensure that the pupils speak both languages, Czech only will be spoken at lunch-time, whereas at the tea-table only English will be allowed.
