NEW DRAUGHTS CHAMPION
J. GARDINER, OF NELSON WINNER OF NEW ZEALAND TITLE [United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. 30th December. The New Zealand centennial draughts championship tournament concluded to-day, the new champion being J. Gardiner, Nelson, who, with a lotal of 20 points, was two ahead of the runner-up, G. A, Brown. The new champion had won the title previouslv in 1903, 1908, 1914 and 1928. Brown has been champion on six previous oc. casions.
The handicap tournament was won by W. Davis, Wellington, the run-ners-up being J. Gilhooly and F. W. Graham, Dannevirke.
