INJURED BY HAND GRENADE Advice has been received by Mr L. W. Powick, Westport, who is at present st lying at the Wakatu Hotel, Nelson, th t his son. Sapper F. T. Powick, is seriously ill as the result of an accidental injury to his eye received from the discharge of a hand grenade on 26th December. Sapper Powick enlisted in Westport and went overseas in the Second Railway Construction Company with the Third Echelon He was a popular athlete, representing Buffer at Rugby and being a prominent cyclist.
