TAKAKA BOWLING CLUB

NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT TWELVE RINKS ENTERED Prospects are bright for the success of the Takaka Bowling Club’s first tournament to be held on the local green on Wednesday and Thursday, Ist and 2nd January, 1941. In all twelve rinks have been nominated, including five local rinks and seven from neighbouring clubs. The local club has all arrangements well in hand for the tournament, and with a continuance of the excellent weather conditions of the past few weeks, the green, which has always been regarded as the best in the Nelson province, will be in firstclass condition and conducive to a high standard of play. The outside rinks entered for the tournament comprise two from the Nelson Club, one from Maitai, one from Mapua and three from Motueka. Takaka rinks have been nominated as follows: C. Strickland. R. M. Kirk, A. Newlove and R. W. Kirk (s). G. W. Maunder. W. Birdsall, J. P. Cottier, and J. W. Murray (s). G. Polglase, T. E. Baigent, J. W. Page and E. A. Polglase (s). R. Kidson, P. Baigent, L. A Petterson and Colin Scott (s). A. Colbeck. F. Hambrook, A. C. Strawbridge and J. D. Hambrook (s).
