WAIMEA BEAT NELSON

NEWMAN SHIELD CRICKET J. HALL BOWLS WELL FOR COUNTRY TEAM The Newman Shield cricket match between Waimea and Nelson was concluded at Trafalgar Park cn Saturday, Waimea winning by the big margin of an innings and 192 runs and regaining the trophy which they lost to the city last season. Irvine took the remaining three wickets in the second innings at a cost of 27 runs. Four Nelson batsmen reached double figures in their second innings, Preece with 14 being top scorer. The Waimea team was as follows: A. Newman. S. Wilde. J. Hildyard, J. Caskie. R. Ralfe. H. Irvine. R. Knapp, , K. Hill. N. Hawkes. O. Burnett. J. Hall.
