ASKED FOR TIME TO PAY

BOOKMAKER’S AGENT FINED [United Press Association] WELLINGTON. This Day. When his client Ernest Browne (44) barman, was fined £3O on a bookmaking charge, counsel asked for time to pay. “He ought to get his principals to pay,” said Mr Stout, S.M., “if he is acting as agent.” “They don’t always pay,” said counsel. “Well they ought to.” commented the Magistrate. Counsel had stated that Browne was only acting as an agent to oblige customers.
