The Discharge Age

A question was put to a representative of the National Service Department. at a meeting of the Wellington luanch of the Institute of County Cierks which could not be answered. One of the county clerks said that he had been confronted with a man saying: “I am 70 years of age. I want to join the Home Guard, but what is the discharge age? I don’t want to be 90 and still in the Guard.” (Laughter.) To celebrate the occasion of the crowning of the Army King and Queen at the recent Motueka Carnival, a Victory Ball will be held in the Brooklyn Hall next Friday evening. Proceeds will help swell patriotic funds.
