DU MAURIER SURPRISES SPRINT TO KENTUCKY [United Press Association] FEILDING, 30th November. The weather was fine for the first day of the Feilding Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting and the track was fast. There was a large gathering. Results:— Waituna Hack Hurdles, of £150: one and a half miles and 130 yards.—2 Good Sun. 10.3 (Jenkins) 1: 1 Segra, 10.9 (Grindlay) 2; 3 Dorado, 10.12 (Rae) 3. Scratched: Advance Plane. Won by two lengths; half a length. Time, 2.58 3-5. Aorangi Trial Plate, of £130: seven furlongs.—l Tau-uru, 8.7 (Jenkins) 1; 4 Martene, 8.7 (Doyle) 2; 6 Star Zone, 8.7 (Midwood) 3. Scratched: Lady Motava, Pillory. Won by a neck; two lengths. Time, 1.29 2-5. Manchester Handicap, of £300; one and a quarter miles.—lo Du Maurier. 8.1 (Williamson) 1; 12 Hunting Cat. 7.1 (Marsh) 2; 9 Kilometre, 7.3 (Forsyth) 3. Scratched: Rollicker, Defy. Won by two lengths: a head. Time, 2.7. Feilding Juvenile Stakes, of £130: five furlongs.—2 Premature, 8.3 (Morris) 1: 3 Drake’s Drum, 7.11 tßroughton) 2; 6 Greenock. 7.0 (Waddell) 3. All started. Scratched: Talenta. Won by a length; a head. Time, 1.15 2-5. Kiwitea Handicap, of £170: seven furlongs.—l Harina, 8.8, car. 8.3, (R. G. Howell) 1; 5 Hasten, 7.13 (W. J. Broughton) 2; 2 Colossal Chief, 8.0 (H. N. Wiggins) 3. Also started: Rollicker, Notium. Old Surrey, Kaiwaka, Lindrum. Won by two lengths; one length. Notium was fourth. Time, 1.27. After the running of the Fitzroy Handicap, the seventh race, an inquiry was held into interference in the last furlong by the winner, Val Pere, to the horsed inside him. The evidence showed that there was interference after Val Pere had reached the front, but it was due to the horse running in; thati Broughton had made every effort to stop him; and the happening was) accidental. The totalisator returns for the day amounted to £22,442 against £20,050 on the Saturday last year, which was the second day. This is an increase of £2392..
