PARACHUTE MINE-LAYING: Mechancs at an RAF station placing a parachute mine in position in a Handley Page Hampden. By dropping these mines from the air a field embracing the coasts of Germany and the occupied territories from the Boy of Biscay to northern Norway, and in the Baltic, is maintained. Naval mine-loyers are unable to reach areas penetrated in this way.
