NEUDORF WEDDING
BENSEMAN—BEUKE The Presbyterian Church at Upper j Moutere was the scene of a very pretty and popular wedding when Miss Esma Maude Beuke, third daughter of Mr i and Mrs H. C. Beuke, of Neudorf, was j married to Mr Basil Lawrence Benseman, only son of Mrs and the late Mr D. H. Benseman, of Neudorf. The Rev James Hay. of Nelson, offici- ; ated at the ceremony and Miss Cynthia . Drogemuller, a friend of the bride, was the organist. Mrs D. H. Johnston ren- * dered a solo. The church had been attractively de- j corated by friends of the bride. The , bride, who was escorted by her father. ' looked charming in a graceful cream satin model gown cut on classical lines j with accordeon pleated inset train. Her I beautiful tulle veil embroidered with lilies was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a sheath of arum lilies. The bride was attended by two ’maids Miss Mollie Beuke. sister of the bride, and Miss Valda Hall, of Nelson, who were becomingly attired in frocks of apple green georgette ovet taffeta with rucked corsage and very full skirts. They wore a charming headdress of apple green net and georgette with a tiny wreath of pink and lemon flowers. They carried bouquets of pink tulips, , daphne, freezias and maiden hair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Frank Beuke as best man and Mr Keith Thomas as groomsman. After the wedding ceremony about 90 guests were received at the Neudorf Hall by the bride’s mother, Mrs Bueke, who wore a tailored navy silk suit with hat to tone. She carried a posy of ageratum and polyanthi. Assisting her was the bridegroom’s mother (Mrs Benserr.ann) who wore a figured frock with matching hat and coat. She carried a bouquet of azaleas. The hall and tables were beautifully decorated with greenery and pink and lemon iceland poppies. The toasts were in the capable hands of Mr K. J. Holyoake. Many congratulatory telegrams were read. After the breakfast the wedding party and guests assembled at the bride’s home where her many beautiful and varied gifts including many monetary gifts were displayed. A number of friends were entertained in the evening when a series of competitions, dances and items were enjoyed by all. Later Mr and Mrs Benseman left for their honeymoon to be spent in : the Sounds district, the bride travelling j in a petrol blue ensemble with navy ' accessories. The bride and bridegroom were the 1 recipients of many useful articles at a ; gift evening held the previous week, including presents from the Neudorf Tennis, Ping Poiig, and Basketball Clubs. Mrs Alan Coleman, of Upper Moutere entertained friends of the bride at a pantry afternoon held at her residence when a varied programme of items , 1 and competitions was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
