LABOUR DAY

HOLIDAY ON MONDAY Next Monday, Labour Day, will be observed as a general holiday. Apart from a number of club cricket matches and other summer sports programmes no large public fixtures have been arranged in Nelson. At Brightwater in the afternoon the official opening of the Memorial Gates and Centennial Park will take place. There will be no mail deliveries on Monday and the main office at the Chief Post Office will not be opened. There will be one despatch of inland air mail at 7.30 a.m. All the usual mail despatches will close at 7 a.m. on Monday. The telegraph hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the entrance to be used by the public being from Halifax street.
