RAIDS BY R.A.F.

HARASSED CAIRO, 23rd October. An R.A.F. communique states: We attacked working parties and mechanised transport between Buq Buq and Solium, and directly hit motor transport, water tanks and tents. Our fighters successfully machine-gunned motor transport in the same area. We carried out a night raid on Dessie aerodrome and directly hit a hangar, also a bridge northward of the aeroaiome. We bombed buildings at the head of the north pier at Assab.

Bombs were also dropped on shores and sheds on the wharf at Bahardar, Lake Tsana. Three explosions followed bombings on Dangila. We dropped bombs on and dispersed aircraft at Gura and Asmara. Violent explosions followed a raid on a fort and surrounding districts at Kassala, where mechanised units were parked. The South African Air Force, for the fifth time, raided Birikau and started fires. All the planes returned from all operations.
