NO PICNIC IN WAR

WATERSIDE WORKERS’ DECISION [United Press Association] AUCKLAND, 24th October. A decision to forego their annual picnic day for the duration of the war was made by a special meeting of the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union, when it was also decided to work on Labour Days in the* event of emergency, such as the turning about of a food ship for England. The watersiders’ annual picnic holiday, which is fixed by arrangement between the employers and the Union, was to have been on a day early next January.
