TENNIS IN TAKAKA

NEW CLUB FORMED AT WAITAPU ELECTION OF OFFICERS At a well-attended and enthusiastic meeting of Waitapu residents held on Tuesday evening it was decided, on the motion of Miss M. Fellowes, seconded by Mrs B. Bell, that a tennis club, to be known as the Waitapu Tennis Club, be formed. The newly-formed club is to seek affiliation with the Takaka Tennis Association. Mr C. J. Emms presided over the meeting. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr F. W. Falconer (subject to his consent); president, Mr C J. Emms; vice-president,s Messrs A. Page, W. G. Gibbs, F. Page, O. E. R. Page, N. Diplock, J. Vaughan, E. Bird and J. W. Page; committee, Mrs S. Haase, Misses M. Fellowes and M. Emms, Messrs C. Andrews, B. Bell, W. Bird. F. Fellowes and P R. Reilly; secretary, Mrs B. Bell; selector, Mr C. J Emms. Annual membership subscriptions were fixed as follows: School children, 2s; ladies, 7s 6d; men, 10s; double membership ticket, 15s. It was decided that the opening day be held on 2nd November when members, intending members and representations of kindred clubs are cordially invited to be present. Mr C. J. Emms was accorded a hearty vole of thanks for having offered to place a court at the club’s disposal free of charge. PERSONAL Messrs A. G. Small and L. R. Norriss (Takaka), c. Dobson (Collingwood) and V. Harvey (Pakawau) left yesterday to enter military camp.
