SECOND BALLOT

ALL NAMES DRAWN TO BE GAZETTED 6th NOVEMBER [United Press Association] WELLINGTON. This Day. Although it was originally estimated that the drawing of the second national service ballot now in progress would not be completed until mid-day on Saturday, work has been so expedited by the use of a night staff for checking, the introduction of speedier methods indicated by the drawing of the first ballot and the willingness of the staff to work extended hours, that the last of the 34.000 names was drawn about 2.30 this afternoon. A special issue of the “Gazette" containing the names will be issued on the evening of 6th November. No date is fixed for the beginning of the first overseas ballot.
