AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF COMMITTEE 52 NEW MEMBERS ELECTED The monthly meeting of the committee of the Automobile Association (Nelson) was held in the association’s room last night, with the president, Dr S. A. Gibbs, in the chair. In reply to representations the City Council wrote advising that inquiries were being made from the Post and Telegraph Department as to the cost of moving the post at the of Brougham street and Richmond Avenue. Also, the kerb in Trafalgar Square on the west side was to be painted white in blocks. The A. and P. Association notified that the association had been granted space for a display at the annual show.
It was decided to retain membership of the South Island Travel Association for the current year. Fifty-two new members were elected as follows:—Miss R. F. Bartholomew, Messrs N. G. Trownson, C. J. Wilkins (Motueka), Miss R. E. Woodward, and Mr D. Young. The Patrol Officer, Mr N. M. McLaren, reported that roadside assistance had been given on three occasions. The work of erecting fireplaces and conveniences had been attended to. A certain amount of clearing of rubbish and flood deposit had been carried out. Accounts totalling £lB4 16s 8d were passed for payment.
