ENORMOUS TOTAL
U.S. DEFENCE APPROPRIATIONS [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright] WASHINGTON, 26th September. The House of Representatives unanimously approved and sent to the Senate a Bill for a supplementary Army and Navy appropriation of 1,470,000,000 dollars. This makes the last of the 13,000,000,000 dollars of defence expenditure voted this session.
The Secretary of War, Mr Stimson, announced that the Army hai awarded contracts totalling 2,936,000,000 dollars since Ist July.
