NEWS BROADCASTS

EMPIRE AND NATIONAL CHANGES Many alterations in the times of news broadcasts, both by the National Broadcasting Service and the British Broadcasting Corporation, will come into force to-morrow with the change to New Zealand Summer Time and the institution of new programme schedules at Daventry. Up to noon to-morrow the only changes will be due to the adjustment to New Zealand Summer Time, that is, from 2 a.m. all Daventry broadcasts will be half an hour later than hitherto. The National Broadcasting Service will broadcast news as usual at 6 and 7 a.m., but the usual 9.15 broadcast will come through at 9.45 a.m. After noon to-morrow Daventry will broadcast news, news summaries or news reels at the following times:— 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3.30 p.m., 4.30 p.m., 6.15 p.m., 8.30 p.m., and 11.30 p.m. The National Broadcasting Service will rebroadcast these transmissions according to the following schedule: 1.15 p.m.: Broadcast of recording of news received at 1 p.m.; 6.15 p.m. : Rebroadcast of Daventry transmission at that time; 9 p.m. : Broadcast of news reel compiled from local and Daventry news received during the day; 11.30 p.m.: Rebroadcast of Daventry news. From Monday morning, when the new Daventry schedule will be in operation (with the exception of some further adjustments to come into force a week later) the local stations will be broadcasting news as above with the further alteration that the third session of the day will be at 8.45 a.m., instead oC at 9.45 a.m.
