MORE MONEY
FOR WHEAT GROWERS The decision of the Federal Government to pay an additional advance of 4d a bushel on wheat sent by growers to the 1939-40 harvest pool means that Australian wheatgrowers will share a further sum of £3.250,000. The advance brings the total payments to date to 3s 2£d a bushel on rail at ports for bagged wheat, and represents an increase to more than £29.000,000 in the amount of money guaranteed to the industry through the pool. The Government decided to make the increase because the finances of the pool were improving as a result of further payments on account of realisation.
