ENEMY ALIENS
INTERNMENT DEMANDED C ALLEGED LENIENCY OF AUSTRA- ?\ LIAN GOVERNMENT '• [U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] (Received 26th June, 1 p.m ) SYDNEY. This Day.
State Ministers, feeling that the Federal Government is too lenient in the treatment of people engaged in subversive activities, are demanding that all enemy aliens in New South Wales should immediately be interned. The Minister of Transport. Mr Bruxner, said *the only policy for Australia was to .intern not only enemy aliens but also all who are engaged in subversion. The Federal Government had shown extraordinary apathy in handling what was a very grave matter in a critical period in Australia’s history. He added that when the full story of the work in this State since the war began of the army intelligence and police became known the people would be staggered by the lar-reaching nature of enemy activity here.
